Origin Metalcore Band Burgerkill Announce

Burgerkill has influenced the underground metal scene in Indonesia for 16 years and continues to push boundaries.

Their first album ‘Dua Sisi’ leans towards Hardcore/Grindcore but with the release of their third album ‘

Beyond Coma and Despair’ they established themselves as true innovators in the genre. They continue to blaze a trail in their music with their latest album ‘Adamantine’.

With their self produced albums, Burgerkill have set a new standard for bands in Indonesia. Their latest offering ‘

Adamantine’ is a true testament to their talent and a step up from their previous album ‘Beyond Coma And Despair’.

Featuring an enthralling mix of Deathcore and Doom metal elements this is an album that demonstrates the true depths of their musical capability.

The Band has gained a reputation for their live shows, with performances at Wacken Open Air, Rock in Indonesia and Big Day Out.

Their music has a strong influence from many famous artists such as Slayer, Pantera and All That Remains.

The current lineup is composed of singer Vicky, guitarists Ebenz and Agung, bassist Putra and drummer Ramdan.

The band consists of a dynamic composition of talented musicians, each of whom have a strong influence from their respective metal influences. This combination produces a rancorous sound that is downright filthy at its core.

Influences Metalcore Band Burgerkill Announce

In a world of metal bands that have the same name as their favourite fast food chain, Burgerkill stand out as a real and pleasant surprise.

They’ve been around for 16 years, and have shaped the Indonesian extreme music scene as a force to be reckoned with. The locals love them, and they’ve even picked up an award from our esteemed magazine (Metal As Fuck).

Despite their name, these guys are no slouches in the live arena either. They’ve played a whole bunch of big shows,

including supporting international acts like Lamb Of God and DevilDriver in the past. It’s hard to believe that they haven’t yet broken through to the wider Western scene, but this could change soon enough.

The band’s third album ‘Beyond Coma And Despair’ was released in 2006. It was their first release after founding vocalist Ivan Scumbag died of tuberculosis in July 2006.

The album received good reviews and was praised for its rancorous sound.

After the death of their vocalist, Burgerkill found a replacement in Ronald Alexander Radja Haba from the band Carnivored. The new lineup is as lethal as ever with their dynamic composition of talented musicians.

Lineup Metalcore Band Burgerkill Announce

With the festival’s avowed aim of uniting metalheads from around the world, organisers have taken great care to bring in an eclectic mix of international acts.

Dutch chart-conquerors The Devil’s Blood share the bill with hostile death-metal gods Cannibal Corpse and grind god veterans Napalm Death, demonstrating the vast range of music now classed as metal.

Meanwhile, Burgerkill – who won Hammer’s Metal As Fuck award in 2013 – make an encouraging start to their foray into Europe, with a ferocious set that made the prospect of a South-east Asian invasion seem like an achievable goal.

Music style

As one of the country’s most established metal bands, Burgerkill have made their name by delivering brutal live performances. Their evocative musical style fuses multiple subgenres together into something wholly unique.

From melodic death metal riffs and shredding solos reminiscent of At the Gates to Pantera-style thrash grooves and punchy blast beats, their music is hard to categorize.

Burgerkill’s music has evolved over the years, as the band found their sound and crafted a style that is all their own. Their debut album, ‘Dua Sisi’,

showed the band had potential, but it was with their follow-up release ‘Venomous’ that they truly hit their stride. The album’s songs enthralled fans and the band’s style became instantly recognisable.

The band have also risen to prominence in the Indonesian music scene, regularly supporting international metal acts on their tours of the country.

They have toured alongside bands like The Black Dahlia Murder, As I Lay Dying and Himsa.

Despite their success, the band’s popularity hasn’t yet translated to a wider audience. This is despite having some high

profile social media activity, including a viral video of John setting Greta Thunberg’s incendiary UN speech to death metal.

Hopefully this will change when the band make their debut at Bloodstock Festival this year. They’ll be playing on the Hobgoblin New Blood stage, where they’re sure to attract a hefty crowd.

Tours

The Indonesian metal scene is one of the most vibrant in the world, with celebrated bands like Jasad, Siksakubur, DeadSqaud,

Noxa and Asphyxiate making waves internationally. But despite its enormous size, it remains almost entirely unknown in North America (glowing reviews from Metal Hammer notwithstanding).

This month, Burgerkill, featuring Ronald on vocals, Puput on drums and Agung on guitar, are back in Europe to showcase their rancorous brand of metal.

Their Roar of Chaos Tour takes in enthralling shows in Rotterdam, Netherlands (27 July), Budapest, Hungary (29 July) and Prague, Czech Republic (30 July).

The band will also play at the notorious Wacken Open Air festival in Germany on 4 August. And if that’s not enough,

the slam-dunking quartet will be returning to their home country to headline a two-day event called Hammersonic in March 2020.
